Castle Gunmakers, Norham, Northumberland

After the great success of last year’s inaugural Kelso Deer Stalking Fair, we were pleased to be able to get a stand for ourselves this year. Both Barry and Sam at Castle Gunmakers are passionate about deer stalking and are very knowledgeable about most types of rifle and ammunition. Barry has been shooting deer for most of his adult life and has even made some DVDs on the subject with Sporting Scene. We are offering two of these classic DVDs as prizes – just go the Deer Stalking Fair facebook page for more information.

We will have a large variety of rifles for sale at the fair, as well as scopes, binos, books and DVDs and we will be on hand to offer help and advice on any rifle or stalking related topic. A good friend of ours – an ex services marksman – will be available on the stand to answer any questions on custom and bespoke rifles and ammunition. Although the Borders has a wealth of stalking opportunities, we can also help with sourcing red deer stalking from one of our many contacts in the Highlands and Islands.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be showcasing, on this blog and our facebook page, some of the rifles that we will be bringing along to the show. If there is anything particular that you are looking for then please get in touch. We specialise in all types of rifle and shotgun repairs and servicing and will be pleased to advise and quote for any work. We are currently offering a 10% discount on all shotgun and rifle servicing.

Our featured gun today is a lovely .223 Sako Vixen. If you want the ultimate fox rifle or just a great little range rifle, this is the one for you! Built with a heavy barrel and fitted with a T4 moderator and high quality 1″ Sako mounts, this rifle is “as new”. The price of £975.00 reflects this, but make us a good offer!
