About three years ago I renewed an old family friendship from the West Country when Steven Brown walked into our shop. When I was a teenager, Steven’s father was the Head Keeper at Ranston Estate and at that time my mum was Dorset’s largest game dealer. We soon became firm family friends but gradually lost touch after we moved to Scotland.
Since meeting up again Steven has become an enthusiastic ambassador for us at Castle Gunmakers, and of course a great customer! It was inevitable that I would end up taking a day’s driven pheasant shooting at Steven’s renowned “Hall Rule” shoot and I have spent all season looking forward to it.
Accompanied by eight good friends (and customers), we arrived at Hall Rule with great expectations and were not disappointed. We were provided with driven pheasant shooting at its best, with all the drives presenting high and beautifully shown birds. The whole team agreed that it was the highlight of their season and I think I acquitted myself quite well – but you’ll have to ask Steven.
A big thank you to Steven and his team and we are looking forward to another day next season.
